Running the Race
A 100 Word Sermon Inspired by Hebrews 11:29—12:2
So then, with endurance, let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter.
Listen to the ancestors’ stories. God works through humanity’s limitations. The journey is challenging and painful. Your reward is Beloved Community. Dividing walls come crashing down. Resisters are welcomed. Grace covers the faithful. Detach yourself from anything that gets in the way of relationship with Creator and Creation. Keep your focus on Jesus justice and resurrection power. Christ perfects your faith, allowing you to embrace vulnerability and release shame. Trust in Holy Spirit energy, drawn from the cloud of witnesses who started and continue this sacred work through you. Ready. Set. Go. Take the baton for the sake of joy.
